12/05/2002 Archived Entry: "Just Remember"
Without further delay I present to you another long awaited update.
Not so subtle Hint-If you haven't noticed, these sporadic spurts of absence are planned. How else would I get you to revisit for more provocative insight? College 101 in the life of a *now* 19 y/o. Just you remember that, okay.
Three most significant events are broken down into sections from latest to most recent.
Birthday Celebration
It's twelve o'clock midnight. Do you know where your birthday cake is?
This year my birthday fell on the day after classes ended before a five day holiday break. Like burnt out bats from hell, we all rejoiced at the opportunity to break away from campus. While real food made some apprehensive to be home again, catching up on extended hours of sleep tickled thoughts among the rest of us. For me, I was excited about the combination of the two in addition to being a year closer to twenty-one. Suspicious of plans of a birthday party on Wednesday, I got just the opposite. As I began to doze off while watching tv, there were distinct knocks on the door. Seconds later it opens, inviting a host of almost 30 people into the room. All singing "Happy Birthday", all smiling. Equipped with two cards and a vanilla cake with lighted candles, I was sincerely struck by the surprise and sweetness of the event.
It was absolutely heart-warming. Too bad the pictures didn't come out. It's twelve o'clock midnight.
Boston Tea-Party
The whole time I was there, I drank not one sip of tea. I know-I know, I should feel ashamed.
Stuart, Abby, and the kids were absolutely wonderful. I so thoroughly enjoyed myself there that I left my black winter coat and scarf. Not surprised. Well get this: they mailed both items overnight. Just in the knick of time, seeing as how it remains in the low 20s by day and 9-5 degrees in the late night.
End of the Semester Countdown
Five more classes and I go back home for the first time in four months.
Final exams, final exams, final exams. Studying and preparing would be a helll of a lot easier if my stomach weren't so fussy. For the past two weeks I have been getting slammed. If not hacking away the common cold out of my system, I am throwing back Green Tea, Orange Tea, or Zantac 75 for acid reduction relief. Keep in mind that I have been battling the distraction most miserably of moody bowels for weeks.
Ick.
Take me home where the buffalos roam and the cows are out doing something-of-another.
Sheesh.
Replies: Word Up.
I am way too excited about yer homecoming!
