For the past three days, I have found it difficult signing into my regular AOL account. Contrary to what is usual, the system refuses to sign me, offering the stubborn response of "invalid password." How could it be that an almost three year old account with an almost three year old password stopped working? Somewhat frustrated, I tried repeatedly to log-on, all times unsuccessfully. So finally, I called AOL customer service, which only helped to belabor the resolution.

The first attempt, I was put on hold and then told to call back in fifteen minutes. According to the customer service operator, AOL was undergoing a complete system upgrade. So, I tried again yesterday. Only this time I was instructed to call back in 45 minutes. Apparently, the service upgrade was taking this long to finish. Finally, this morning brought more definite news. At the sacrifice of being on hold for approximately 30 minutes, a different operator tells me that my account had been "secured" by AOL. To my surprise, someone had hacked into my account to send a total figure of "8,000 Spam Messages." All of this action of course happening the day I could not log on to do something as simple as checking email. The alarming rate of SPAM from my stolen account was amusingly similar to my phone calls to AOL customer service -- put on hold. I was then given a temporary password and advised to reset the password to something more secure.

I'm inserting this excerpt because I found it amusing. All libel aside, Schwarzenegger is still one of my favorite adventure movie actors.

*
Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't faring too well with the ladies. He recently came under attack for a 1977 interview he gave to Oui magazine, wherein he admitted to engaging in group sex at a gym and receiving oral sex during bodybuilding competitions.

Reuters reports that a group of feminists recently staged a demonstration outside Schwarzenegger's campaign office to protest and raise awareness about what they deem to be his "misogynist views" and "crude behavior toward women."

Enter Oprah Winfrey for damage control. Winfrey, a friend of the actor turned candidate and his wife, Maria Shriver, has invited the couple to appear on Monday's season premiere of "Oprah."

The past week has been great. I'm really satisfied with all of my classes, and have two on-campus jobs. *chang-ching* The amount of required reading for each class is unbelievable. Sunday alone, I spent the whole day reading. From around 9 o'clock to sometime past 5, I remained seated either in bed or at my desk, flipping pages and scribbling notes.

The most interesting reading was for Cultural Anthropology; there were two articles that addressed unexpected issues. For one, this woman from Amsterdam conducted a ten year study of women involved in prostititution throughout sections of NYC/Atlanta. The second article addressed the way in which women, who live in Third World regions, are conditioned to not form "motherly" attachments to their infants. The story is so wild from an outsider's point of view. How would you react upon reading that the church gave out free infant coffins daily. High infant mortality rates, malnutrition, disease, slow economy, and other factors only add on to the situation, making the disassociation seem normal. Wild huh?

Then I proceeded to read 62 pages of Homer's poem, The Odyssey. Not quite as interesting as the social stuff.

The self paced fitness instructor acts as if she is a hard-ass, but more details on this first impression later -- does it matter that she is the women's b-ball coach?

The History course is another subject on its own. The prof., Jennifer Delton, is well spoken. I like her teaching style because she easily draws your interest into subjects you hadn't before thought/cared about. Bonus point for her.

But before this entry turns into a monologue, here is a head's up for you, the audience. This weblog site won't look the same in another week. Since I'm working at CITS now, it'll broaded my access to web design tools (i.e. Dreamweaver MX, woot!) So don't freak out like you logged onto the wrong spot when the design is altered and relauched.

Peace.

Will do. After two days of on and off decorating, my outlook about the design of the room has changed. At first, it was terribly disappointing to find a scaled down version of what I thought would be a bigger room. These corners pretruding from the walls offer no help when you want to rearrange furniture. The beds can sit nowhere except parallel to the walls, and the closets seem oversized. The rumoured "bigger rooms in Moore" must have been a confidence booster since I saw them merely as bland sh*tholes. Yet, the arrival of a roommate and friends helped rearrange the room to its potential. I'll have to support my new optimistic view with photos, I know. [insert my shout-out to SERGIO! here; maybe I will be able to pronounce your name the non-standard english way soon... : P]

I may have a job working at CITS in the library as a computer desk assistant. I'm really excited about the prospect of this. Meeting/interview is scheduled today. Already they want to set up possible working hours. Also, I've landed a 5.65/hr deal working as yet another desk job in the Moore Hall lobby. I swear, I'll be so tired of sitting around all day. *reflects a moment* Nah, it'll be cool.

Here's an extra photo showing off the window space. Do you see how close the beds are to the wall, let alone the window. For that matter, let alone everything else! Perhaps you can envision a 3-D space. That would bring a more realistic spin to it.

Here's the new room. Forgive the inconsistency of size within the following photos.

What idiot decided to title the dorm of supposedly bigger rooms "Moore"? Well...given our current room setting, it lacks the addition of space I expected.

Hey folks.

Summer vacation is now officially in effect.
Expect changes after my three month return.

Adios!
